Stamped & Decorative Concrete
Get the high-end look of natural stone, brick, or tile with the durability and value of concrete.

What Is Stamped Concrete
Stamped concrete uses special mats or stamps to create patterns and textures in fresh concrete. The stamps imprint designs that mimic natural stone, brick pavers, wood planks, tile, or other materials. This decorative technique transforms ordinary concrete into a beautiful surface that looks like premium materials but costs much less.
The process involves pouring and leveling the concrete, then pressing texture mats into the surface while the concrete is still workable. Color is added either by mixing it into the concrete or applying it to the surface. The combination of color and texture creates remarkably realistic results. From a few feet away, stamped concrete often looks identical to the natural materials it mimics.
Stamped concrete offers several advantages over the materials it imitates. It costs less than natural stone or pavers. Installation is faster because you pour a continuous surface rather than placing individual pieces. The solid surface does not have gaps where weeds grow or where dirt accumulates. Maintenance is simpler, and the surface stays level without individual pavers shifting or settling.
You get a custom look that increases your property value. Decorative concrete works for driveways, patios, walkways, pool decks, and more. The design options are extensive, letting you match your home's style or create a unique outdoor space that reflects your taste.
Design Options and Patterns
Popular Patterns
We offer numerous stamp patterns to choose from. Some of the most popular include:
- Ashlar slate creates the look of cut stone with irregular rectangular shapes
- Cobblestone mimics old European streets with rounded stone surfaces
- Brick patterns provide a classic, timeless appearance
- Flagstone offers natural stone texture with irregular shapes
- Wood plank creates the look of wooden decking without the maintenance
- Tile patterns work well for Mediterranean or Spanish style homes
Each pattern comes in different sizes and layouts. We show you samples and photos of completed projects to help you visualize how different patterns will look in your space. The pattern you choose should complement your home's architecture and your personal preferences.
Color Options
Color makes stamped concrete look realistic. We use integral colors mixed into the concrete and surface color hardeners applied to the top. This creates depth and variation similar to natural materials. Earth tones like browns, tans, and grays are popular, but we can create virtually any color scheme you want.
Using multiple colors creates more realistic results. For example, a stone pattern might use a base tan color with darker brown accents. The color variation mimics how natural stone varies in tone. We can also add antiquing or highlighting techniques that enhance the texture and make the pattern more dramatic.
Installation and Maintenance
The Installation Process
Stamped concrete installation requires skill and experience. The timing is critical because we must complete the stamping while the concrete is still workable but firm enough to hold the pattern. We prepare the site just like any concrete patio or driveway project, with proper excavation, base preparation, and forms.
After pouring and leveling the concrete, we apply color hardener to the surface. Then we press the stamp mats into the concrete to create the pattern. Each mat must be placed carefully to line up the pattern correctly. We work systematically across the surface, stamping one section at a time. Once stamping is complete, we allow the concrete to cure, then apply a sealer that protects the color and surface.
Caring for Your Stamped Concrete
Stamped concrete needs regular sealing to maintain its appearance and protect the color. We recommend resealing every two to three years depending on traffic and exposure. The sealer protects against stains, moisture, and UV damage. Between sealings, basic cleaning with a pressure washer or garden hose keeps the surface looking good.
Avoid using de-icing salts on stamped concrete in winter as they can damage the sealer and surface. If you spill oil or other staining materials, clean them up promptly. With proper care, stamped concrete maintains its beauty for many years. The maintenance is still much less than what natural stone or pavers require. Stamped driveways and patios provide lasting value with minimal upkeep.
